Beautiful Tone, growling and thundering low end with LaBella flat wounds. The craftsmanship is absolutely stunning. These are so detailed that it’s hard to take it all in when you finally pick it up and hold it in hand for the first time. In word, they JAWDROPPINGLY beautiful. The patina is so incredibly detailed, that even after months of playing my lovely bass I’m still finding small little details I hadn’t noticed before.
So many compliments received from fans & fellow musicians alike. All love it’s aged patina looks & growly tone from it’s custom hotrodded hand overwound Bare Knuckle Pickups through my Ashdown all Valve Bass Amp. So versatile, with a twist of the knobs it goes quickly from a cleanly defined mid & treble jazzy bridge tone, to a deep muted & thumpy R&B tone, to an overdriven grungy growling rock monster! This bass does it all.
East Gloves Customs are by far the best relics on the market. It’s readily apparent that this a labor of love. So many tiny small details, like rusty hardware, old stained pick guard, faded & stained patina woodwork, they absolutely look the business. The pictures, as beautiful as they are, simply cannot capture them all and in the end don’t do these guitars justice compared to holding them in hand. So many small nicks and tiny details goes into these lovely gems.
(Even the Fender case that came with the bass was wonky, scratched & dinged with a slightly wonky top that you have to press down on the body side to get it to shut right. Once latched it’s tight & like a vault though. Don’t know if this was a happy chance or if East Gloves Customs also relics the cases as well for a more authentic road worthy feel. Either way it’s a really cool detail & way more authentic looking then pulling it out of a pristine case!)
Placed side by side with Fender Custom Shop Relics, the FCS Basses look like “factory-made” mass produced jobs next to my East Gloves Custom. Placed side by side with Fender Roadworn series basses and the Road-Worns look laughably amateurish. If on the fence, take the plunge. Take it with you to your local big box music store & place it next to the laughably overpriced FCS relics. Once placed side by side you & everyone around you will know you made the right decision.
Thank you very much for this great bass & all the lovingly placed details. The more I look & play this bass the more I fall in love with it. It will stay with me & get some serious mileage these beauties deserve.
